- Abstract
This article explains why Compromís, an alliance between competing parties formed by the Iniciativa del Poble Valencià (IdPV) and the Bloc Nacionalista Valencià (Bloc), has remained stable from 2008 to the present. The theory has argued that these types of alliances are unstable and that they are only maintained over time if there is inequality between their parties. However, through a new framework of analysis, it is argued that there are other factors that can contribute to the stability and maintenance of this type of alliances: first, alliances present incentives that can help satisfy party objectives; Second, ideology not only works as an element that depends on the organization, but also as an instrument of the parties to achieve their goals, among others, the maintenance of alliances. The analysis of the trajectory and ideological evolution of Compromís and its parties allows contrasting the theoretical expectations presented, establishing a causality that justifies its maintenance and stability, as well as reflecting on the ideological dynamics in alliances between parties.
