- Abstract
The author challenges the profession of occupational therapy to analyze how it might contribute to the stigma experienced by people with mental illness in Canada and suggest ways for therapists to be part of social solutions. She offers an overview of the concept of stigma and discrimination in relation to mental illness. She explains approaches to promote anti-stigma education. She emphasizes the importance of removing discrediting valuations within the profession in order to eliminate stigma within the ranks.
