- Abstract
This is the common denominator: the theatre-makers, most of whom have been pushed to the peripheries and fringes by the system and the critics, but who - from their respective positions - advocate a recalibration of theatre. By changing the stories we tell, by whom, and how, by changing the characters we create and their outcomes, by expanding the creative use of the theatre languages at play, we change not just the processes, product, dramaturgy and the buildings, but theatre itself" (189). Among other things, the COVID-19 pandemic has swept theatre audiences from their seats (in a physical and metaphorical sense), leaving theatre venues empty for the first time in decades.
