- Abstract
The increasing topical use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents and analgesics has produced new contact allergies such as those to oxyphenbutazone, bufexamae, ketoprofen, diclofenae, inomethacin and etofenamate. Phenylbutazone is a powerful analgesic and anti-inflammatory agent previously recommended for the treatment of periarticular inflammation and soft tissue rheumatism. It was used as cream, ointment, injections and tablets, but all these formulations have been withdrawn worldwide because of toxic side-effects.
