- Abstract
A retrospective cohort study published in the International Journal of Dermatology found that patients with hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) have a higher risk of developing cholecystitis and pancreatitis. The study, which utilized data from the TriNetX Research Network, included over 51,000 HS patients and a matched control group. The results showed that HS patients had a 5-year hazard ratio of 1.38 for cholecystitis and 1.23 for pancreatitis compared to the control group. The study suggests that clinicians should be aware of the increased risk of gastroenterological issues in HS patients.
