- Abstract
The article offers tips on detecting and handling patients who present with forged or exaggerated symptoms or malingering. According to the Texas Department of Insurance, fraud that includes malingering costs the insurance industry $150 billion yearly. Psychometric tests that can help in the identification of malingered psychosis, including the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory-2, are mentioned. It also notes that a framework for formulating a disposition is necessary once malingering has been diagnosed.
