- Abstract
Introducción: las personas con epilepsia, han sido objeto de estigma a lo largo de la historia, factor que podría comprometer su calidad de vida. En nuestro país, poco se conoce sobre el estigma internalizado y su relación con la calidad de vida, depresión y deterioro cognitivo. Objetivo: evaluar el nivel de estigma internalizado, síntomas depresivos y deterioro cognitivo y su relación con la calidad de vida en pacientes con epilepsia atendidos en el INNNMVS. Método: estudio transversal, con muestreo por conveniencia de pacientes atendidos en la clínica de epilepsia del INNNMVS. Se realizó correlación de Pearson entre el estigma total de King y los puntajes totales de la escala de depresión de Beck, la calificación del MoCA test y la calificación total del QOLIE31; y asimismo se determinó la correlación entre las subescalas de este último. Instrumentos: escala de Estigma Internalizado de King, Inventario de Beck para depresión, el test MOCA para determinar deterioro cognitivo y la escala QOLIE-31; para calidad de vida. Resultados: se estudiaron 133 pacientes, 69 (51.9%) fueron mujeres. 38.3% de los pacientes tenían más de 20 años de evolución. El tipo de crisis más frecuente fue focal (62.4%), 81.2% persistía con crisis. 30.1% tenía empleo remunerado. 39.1 mostraron síntomas depresivos, 56.4% mostraron posible alteración cognitiva. El estigma total de King mostró una correlación directa con la puntuación en escala de depresión de Beck (r=0.427) e indirecta para con la calificación MoCA y la calificación total de QOLIE31 (r=-0.183 y -0.464, respectivamente). Conclusión: los pacientes con epilepsia que presentan mayor estigma internalizado presentan a su vez más síntomas depresivos así como menor percepción de calidad de vida y habilidades cognitivas, implicando importante comorbilidad en la epilepsia por su repercusión social.
