The article discusses a pharmacokinetic study focusing on use of pioglitazone on critically ill patients with sepsis. Topics discussed include the activation of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-gamma (PPARγ) by thiazolidinediones (TZDs) pioglitazone and rosiglitazone which can reduce inflammation; the study of patients who took pioglitazone through nasogastric (NG) tube; and the study of several serious adverse events.
