- Title
Lactate-guided resuscitation saves lives: no.
- Authors
Monnet, Xavier; Delaney, Anthony; Barnato, Amber
- Abstract
The authors comment on two randomized clinical trials that used protocols based on lactate clearance to guide resuscitation during shock. They discuss the comparison of two algorithms for hemodynamic management in a study by T. C. Jansen et al., hemodynamic resuscitation based on lactate or central venous oxygen saturation given to patients with sepsis in a study by A. E. Jones et al., and reasons why lactate-guided resuscitation did not change outcomes in the studies.
