- Abstract
Introduction. The dental abnormalities of number have a lower frequency than other, compared with other malocclusions, however, can cause changes that require therapeutic intervention due to esthetic disorders and secondary disturbances to the dental arches and bite reports. Methods. Clinical and statistical study was conducted on a sample of 465 patients aged 5-18 years in the clinic's in the period 2010-2011. Each patient was issued with summary observationsfi le and from clinical and complementary examinations (exo and endo-oral photos, orthopantomography, lateral cephalometric) have formulated a complete and comprehensive diagnostic, thereby established therapeutic conduct. Results and discussion. From the group of patients were diagnosed with supernumerary teeth 33 patients, representing 3.8% of all patients. Sex ratio was 2/1 in favor of boys. In the 33 patients diagnosed were found 47 supernumerary teeth, both maxillary and mandibular, all of supernumerary teeth were permanent teeth. Of the 33 cases 72.7% presented and malocclusions, the sex ratio of 2/1 in favor of boys. Conclusions. Supernumerary teeth have a low frequency to malocclusions, as it is shown in present statistical study in which only 3.85% of patients had supernumerary teeth. Supernumerary teeth occur more frequently in the upper jaw, affecting especially the front.
