- Abstract
This article presents the text of a speech given by Dr. William H. Turner during the 29th annual Appalachian Studies Association conference held at the Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio. A brief background about Turner is provided. This organization is composed of artists, journalists, cinematographers, intellectuals, poets, writers, environmentalists, former moonshiners, feminists, gays and political activists. An excerpt of a poem written by Howard Thurman is presented. He explained the theme "Both Ends of the Road," which was chosen for the 29th Annual Appalachian Studies Conference.
