- Authors
Kluge, Sofie
- Abstract
A critique is presented of the epyllion poem "L'Adone" by 17th century Italian poet Giovan Battista Marino, focusing on what the author believes are conflicting portrayals of Greek mythology, such as humorous and erotic interpretations versus moral interpretations. Didactic versus poetic uses of myths are discussed, as well as poetic aesthetics since the 12th century, allegory in literature, and literary dedications.
