- Abstract
This article, published in Frontiers in Endocrinology, explores the effects of midday naps on glycemic control in diabetic patients. The researchers discuss the relationship between nighttime sleep duration and diabetes risk, as well as conflicting findings on the influence of midday naps on glycemic control. They present their own study, which found that midday naps reduced the risk of poor glycemic control in short nighttime sleepers with type 2 diabetes. Other studies mentioned in the article examine the association between napping characteristics and glycemic control, including insulin sensitivity and hypertension risk. The authors conclude that more research is needed to determine the specific role of restorative napping on glycemic control in diabetic patients.
