- Abstract
Using a two-dimensional least-square fit to the Gaussian shape of the main lobe [15] gives a half-power beamwidth of 1.2 HT <math display="inline" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><msup><mi /><mo> </mo></msup></math> ht in azimuth and 1.0 HT <math display="inline" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><msup><mi /><mo> </mo></msup></math> ht in elevation (black lines in Fig.). Note that due to internal settings in the signal processor, the lowest recorded reflectivity value is HT <math display="inline" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mo>-</mo></math> ht 31.5 HT <math display="inline" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mrow class="unit"><mi mathvariant="normal">dBz</mi></mrow></math> ht . The pointing offset is 0.45 HT <math display="inline" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><msup><mi /><mo> </mo></msup></math> ht in azimuth and 0.17 HT <math display="inline" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><msup><mi /><mo> </mo></msup></math> ht in elevation, respectively (black star). Only at the first range interval, shallow cumulus clouds with reflectivity values below HT <math display="inline" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mrow><mo>-</mo><mn mathvariant="normal">10</mn></mrow></math> ht HT <math display="inline" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mrow class="unit"><mi mathvariant="normal">dBz</mi></mrow></math> ht are observed on both days.
