- Abstract
The article discusses a study which examined the association between critical care training with mechanical ventilation protocols and subsequent knowledge about ventilator management. Particular focus is given to variables considered in the study such as birth country, residence training country and first-attempt score on the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) Internal Medicine Certification Examination. Results of the study showed that 86% of programs had protocols for ventilation liberation and 73% had protocols for sedation management. Findings also revealed no association of training in a high-intensity program with mechanical ventilation score.
