- Title
How Did the 2008-2009 Seasonal Influenza Vaccine Affect the Pandemic?
- Authors
Glezen, W. Paul
- Abstract
The author discusses the impact of the seasonal influenza vaccine on the H1N1 pandemic in Mexico. He recalls the identification of the virus in the country and examines the effectiveness of the seasonal trivalent influenza vaccine (TIV) in older patients compared with children with H1N1. However, the author mentions the opposition of the Canadian Agency for Drugs and Technologies in Health (CADTH) in using the TIV and proposes to use the live attenuated influenza vaccine (LAIV) instead.
