- Abstract
Objective: Pott's disease is defined as vertebral osteomyelitis caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. In this report we present a case of Pott's disease which caused gibbosity and reactivated under treatment. Case Report: Thirty-two years old female patient was admitted to our clinic with complaints of back pain. The patient's thoracic magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was showed Th 6-7 vertebral osteomyelitis. The patient was operated with left anterolateral approach and abscess drainage, corpectomy and anterior stabilisation+fusion was performed. The patient's back pain was resolved after surgery. Histopathological and microbiological results were reported as tuberculosis. Anti-tuberculosis treatment was started. Three months later from the operation the patient readmitted to us with complaints of low back pain and difficulty in walking. In this period she was used her antituberculosis treatment regularly. In MRI lumbar vertebral osteomyelitis was determinated. The patient was reoperated with anterolateral approach and vertebral abscess drainage, discectomy, corpectomy and anterior stabilisation and fusion was performed. Conclusion: In recent years, an increase in tuberculosis cases is recorded. Spinal tuberculosis is the most common type of disease within the skeletal system and started come back important in daily practice of neurosurgery.
