- Abstract
This article explores the use of robotic surgery and artificial intelligence in urologic procedures, specifically focusing on prostate and kidney surgery. It emphasizes the need for algorithms to assist surgeons in determining the appropriate robotic platform and approach for each patient. The authors provide a decision tree for radical prostatectomy based on factors such as disease risk and prior surgeries. They also discuss the increasing use of single port robotic platforms for renal surgery, particularly in cases where the kidney is located in the retroperitoneal area. The article highlights the development of an algorithm to guide urologists in making personalized decisions based on individual patient characteristics, and emphasizes the importance of utilizing available technologies and customizing patient care accordingly.
