- Abstract
Interprofessional education is an interactive learning modality that allows health care students to learn interaction skills and to respect other professionals in health care. The aim of this study was to evaluate development in students´ interprofessional collaboration competence before and after an interprofessional education intervention, to describe students' perceptions of interprofessional collaboration and to evaluate students' experiences of the interprofessional course. The study was conducted using a quasi-experimental pre-/post-test design. The data were collected from health care and medical students participating the course (n=32) using the questionnaire that contained structured 5-item Likert-scale items and open ended questions. The data were analyzed statistically and using inductive content analysis. Students' interprofessional collaboration competence developed during the intervention and interprofessional education improved the students´ understanding of interprofessional collaboration in patient care. The teaching methods and group working promoted the students' interprofessional collaboration.
