The estroprogestant contraceptive pill is highly effective (92-97%), even with an occasional missed or delayed pill. Condoms and spermicides are the most widely used non-hormonal contraceptive methods. In conclusion, the choice of a contraceptive method is influenced by race, education, ethnicity, marital status, income, and the intention to maintain fertility, the role of family doctor and gynecologist being important in presenting the advantages and disadvantages of each method, but also in monitoring later.
