- Title
SELECTIVE EXPOSURE TO INFORMATION: A CRITICAL REVIEW.
- Authors
Sears, David O.; Preedman, Jonathan L
- Abstract
The article presents a study which reviews the literature on selective exposure to information. It also analyzes conventional theories with the help of existing knowledge about the correlation of communication bias and attitude bias. The authors first clarify what is meant by "selective exposure," and then characterize the evidence leading to its use. Finally, the authors evaluate the evidence regarding whether or not there is a psychological tendency to prefer supportive to non-supportive information.
