- Title
Bioinorganic chemistry: Model offers intermediate insight.
- Authors
Karlin, Kenneth D.
- Abstract
The article focuses on the efficiency of the hydroperoxohaem intermediate chemical model in the biochemistry of iron-containing haem enzymes. It states that the model is a tractable and functional chemical technique for a reaction of biologically important processes. It adds that the model aims to help resolve vital mechanismtic questions about the biochemistry of the indispensable enzymes. It suggests that the most common haem in nature can be found in the oxygen transport and storage proteins haemoglobin and myoglobin.
