- Abstract
Satellite-tracked sperm whale migrates from the Canadian Arctic to the subtropical western North Atlantic In September 2018 and October 2019, we attached satellite-linked data transmitters (hereafter, tags) to three sperm whales in Davis Strait, the Canadian Arctic, to investigate the species' spatial ecology. Sperm whales ( I Physeter macrocephalus i ) are among the ocean's most widely distributed mammals (Matthews, 1938; Townsend, 1935; Whitehead, 2003). Here, we detail the horizontal movements of three adult male sperm whales in Davis Strait and one whale's migration to the subtropical western North Atlantic.
