- Authors
Oh, Sung Yong; Kang, Jung Hun
- Abstract
In this article, the author talks about how hiccups are usually self-limiting and mild in healthy people, but they sometimes cause more intolerable suffering than any other symptoms in cancer patients. Topics include how hiccup reflex arc consists of three parts comprising the afferent limb, the reflex center, and the efferent limb; and how stimulation of the nerves composing the reflex arc can cause hiccups to develop.
