- Abstract
The article focuses on the applications of acoustics to measure ocean currents, waves and ice as discussed on several papers presented during the NortekUSA Technical Symposium that was held on March 16-18, 2011 in Rhode Island. Using the Doppler effect, acoustic Doppler current profilers are designed to measure the movement of the water over spatial scales that range from millimeters to hundreds of meters. Other significant functions of the acoustic Doppler current profilers are described.
