- Abstract
In Turkish litrature, historical novel plays an important role in the formation of national consciousness. Therefore, it strengthens national unity and solidarity by reminding the events that took place in history. The war that Hatay Turks fought against the French in financial difficultiesis remarkable. Although Hatay is within the borders of the National Pact, it is the name of the Turkish homeland that was left to the administration of France with the 1921 Ankara Agreement with France. While the people living here are looking for ways to join the homeland, they also try to determine their fate by fighting gang wars. The most important person supporting these efforts is Gazi Pasha. He makes every both at the table at on the field so that Hatay, which has been known has the Turkish homeland for many years, is not under enemy occupation. The joining the Hatay, one of the greatest ambitions of the great leader, to the homeland takes place not while he was alive, but after his death. In the historical novel Asi'nin Çocukları, Emine Özgenç's fifth novel, the author tries to give stories of heroism in different places of Hatay. The novel, which started with the invasion of the enemy in 1918 is about the struggle of patriots for independence and freedom during the period between Hatay liberation from the French occupation in 1918. The protagonist of the novel is Aybars and the novel is shaped around him. The main theme of the work is heroism. The people in the novel fight heroically for the freedom of their country in spite of all kinds of unfavorableness. In addition to that, the study focuses on the themes of love, longing and alienation. The historical novel named Asi'nin Çocukları will be examined in terms of structure and theme.
