What Is Your Diagnosis?
- Abstract
The article presents a study on the squamous cell carcinoma, ocular neoplasia and infectious granuloma in birds. It states that lesions in domestic species like canids and bovids tends to be locally invasive and carry poor prognosis. It tells that adjunctive therapies for local tumor control include photodynamic therapy (PDT), radiation therapy and strontium-90. It says that epithelial-based tumors are moderately responsive to radiation therapy and in conjunction with insufficient dosing and inadequate surgical de-bulking, treatment failure transpires. Moreover, common metastatic routes of neoplastic cells are local invasion and lymphatic, hematogenous and peritoneal dissemination.
