- Authors
Atkinson, Carter T.; LaPointe, Dennis A.
- Abstract
The article offers information related to Hawaiian Honeycreepers and the impact of new diseases and climatic changes on them. The birds, that are found on the Hawaii Island in Hawaii, are on the verge of extinction due to habitat degradation and new avian diseases like avian malaria and poxvirus. It mentions that Hawaiian Honeycreepers are usually inflicted with aviation malaria caused by musquito-transmitted protozoan parasites and discusses the impact of global warming on the ecology of Hawaiian disease.
