- Abstract
The article underlines the relationship of Mexican mural tradition, culture and environment. It is noted that Mexican murals go back 5000 years to ancient cave paintings. It is in the 1920s when David Alfaro Siqueiros and Jóse Clement Orozco became famous. Checo Valdez on the other hand employs murals to inspire citizens to take action or to revolt. This artist became notorious in the mid-1990s when he used his technique to aid the revolutionary Zapatistas in Mexico's Chiapas Region. The mural workshops held in Kipur were also discussed.
