- Abstract
The article reports on the study conducted by H. T. Wang and colleagues on the vertical dispersion of dust particles in a turbulent boundary layer in China. Researchers measured the particle concentrations through light scattering diffusion (LSD) and digital image processing. Result reveals that the saltation bombardment in the main mechanism in maintaining dust emission from the ground, without any saltating particles lifted off the bed, the concentration decreases rapidly with time due to the bed stabilization. Researchers discovered that for "pure dust" the vertical mean concentration profile decreases as a function of height according to a power function.
