- Abstract
Inelastic X‐ray scattering (IXS) measurements are carried out for glassy As0.4Se0.6, As0.5Se0.5, and As0.6Se0.4 to investigate atomic dynamics in the glasses. Momentum transfer (Q) dependence of the acoustic excitation energy in each glass follows the ultrasonic sound speed. No positive dispersion is observed in these glasses although liquid As0.4Se0.6 near the melting point shows it. The stoichiometric glass shows a maximum sound speed and the speed decreases with increasing As concentration. The results seem to be correlated with a prediction by rigidity theory that glassy As0.4Se0.6 is most stable.
