- Title
Biotech buybacks—good or bad?
- Authors
Jacobs, Tom
- Abstract
The article offers tips on how to handle repurchasing or buying back of stocks of a company operating in the biotechnology industry. A buyback is neither good nor bad by definition, but may be smart, dumb or bordering on fraudulent. In a buyback, the company takes cash from the company checking account and buys its own shares, which in theory means, reduces the amount of shares outstanding, so that each shareholder owns a larger percentage of the business.
