- Abstract
This weed study in cotton rotation in northern Cameroon concerns observations of approximately 180 fields on three occasions during the crop season. Qualitative floristical analysis shows a flora of about 280 species, in 141 genus among 42 botanical families in which the commonest representatives are Poaceae, Fabaceae, Cyperaceae and Asteraceae. Quantitative floristical analysis was carried out in relation to the three seasons and the three phyto-geographical areas of the region. It shows that the more frequent species are Ipomoea eriocarpa R. Br., Digitaria horizontalis Willd. and Commelina benghalensis L., and the weeds that cause most damage in annual crops are C. benghalensis, D. horizontalis and Striga hermonthica (Del.) Benth.
