- Abstract
Chloroform, ethyl acetate and butanol fractions of 75% ethanol extract from young and old leaves of Toona sinensis, were tested for their anti-bacterial activities using the antimicrobial disk assay. The extracts from young leaves showed more remarkable antibacterial activities than those from old leaves, and the ethyl acetate fraction of young leaf extract showed the most significant antibacterial activity with a MIC of 1.3 mg/mL. The results suggested that the active compounds in T. sinensis decreased along with its growth period.
