- Abstract
The article focuses on the case of a 24-year-old woman who had a severe nonischemic dilated cardiomyopathy and was admitted in the hospital with refractory congestive heart failure. The patient was referred for extraction of a singl-chamber implantable cardioverter-defibrillator for persistent bacteremia. A transesophogeal echocardiogram revealed a left ventricular ejection fraction, but no valvular dysfunction and no pericardial effusion.
