- Abstract
The article focuses on the life and works of William Withering, the chief physician at the Birmingham General Hospital in England. He graduated as a medical doctor in 1766 from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. Apart from being a physician, Withering was also a distinguished botanist. Withering had published a book on all vegetables natural to Great Britain, as well as an easy introduction to the study of botany, as early as 1776.
