The article reports that the policy development for a stable society need the understanding of Earth system, with weather and climate patterns. It mentions that in the U.S. recent storms, flooding, and wildfires reinforce the requirement of understanding the earth. It focuses on the performance of numerical models in the scales. It mentions that the atmosphere, including boundary layer temperature and turbulent structure and clouds has been considered in the analysis.
