- Title
Texture Coding in the Rat Whisker System: Slip-Stick Versus Differential Resonance.

- Abstract
How rats use their whiskers to sense surface texture has been unclear. Measurement of whisker motion in awake-behaving rats indicates that texture information is read out by the pattern of discrete, slip-stick whisker motion events, and not by differential whisker resonance, as had been hypothesized previously.
