- Title
Energy consumption of air-jet weaving machines.
- Abstract
The article describes the innovations employed by Sultex Ltd. of Rüti, Switzerland, to actively reduce the energy consumption of the Sulzer Textil air-jet L5500 weaving machines by up to 40 per cent. It highlights the role of Active Weft Control system (AWC) in drastically reducing the compressed air consumption. Aside from precious energy savings and reduced air consumption, it notes that the system's other benefits are less stress on weft yarn and simplified weft insertion handling for the operator.
