- Abstract
In the experiment, Hungarian carp landrace was propagated and reared in a closed intensive recirculation system. The female (N=5) and male (N=5) broodstock was provided by the owner of the breed (Balaton Fish Management Non-Profit Ltd). The traditional carp propagation method was followed. Body parameters (standard body length and wet body weight) of 20 randomly selected individuals from each group were recorded at 3 developmental stages (at hatching, at the beginning of the feeding larvae stage, and at the 10th day post hatching). Larvae malformations were examined by on an additional 10 individuals at each 3 sampling times. An uniform (body length: 10.5±0.7 mm, body weight: 12.1±1.7 mg) and stable feeding fingerling population was produced (survival rate: 94±2%) in RAS. These fingerlings can achieve better survival rate in pond culture than the larvae reared at traditional conditions. A negligible number of malformations was observed at the 3 different sampling times. Based on the larval morphological studies, significant alterations compared to the literature data could not be observed.
