- Abstract
They found 50 patients with anti-GAD ataxia among 2000 patients managed at their center, of whom 35 (70%) had serological evidence of gluten sensitivity, with half of them improving only with a gluten-free diet [[1]]. We have read the article by Hadjivassiliou et al. [[1]] about the overlap between anti-GAD ataxia and gluten ataxia (GA) with great interest. A 70-year-old male with peripheral neuropathy, ataxia and antigliadin antibodies shows improvement in neuropathy, but not ataxia, after intravenous immunoglobulin and gluten-free diet. And finally, we suggest that patients with progressive undetermined ataxia should undergo WES whenever possible to rule out inherited ataxias.
