- Abstract
The article discusses how public reading called into questions the notion of the reader through distributing reading among several roles. It mentions that public reading creates multiple reading roles by combining elements of theater and social manners and asserts that it required an appearance of authenticity , with readers assigned to be responsible in reading it convincingly. It also illustrates various works which demonstrate various methods of reading which view the reader into multiple personalities.
