- Abstract
In this study, it was aimed to determine the effects of Children's Literature courses designed in accordance with the ARCS Motivational Model on the development, performance and e-learning readiness of the associate degree students. Convergent parallel design, which is one of the mixed methods research designs, was applied. The sample of the study consists of 48 students who continue their education in a child development program at a foundation university in Istanbul. Quantitative data was collected by the "University Students' E-Learning Readiness Scale". Individual interviews and student products were used. Dependent samples t-test, content analysis and descriptive statistics were used. As a result of the research, it was seen that the course designed in accordance with the ARCS Motivational Model had a positive effect on the readiness of the associate degree students in terms of computer self-efficacy. The study revealed that the course, designed in accordance with the ARCS Motivational Model, contributed to the readiness of students in terms of computer self-efficacy, their cognitive and affective development, quality of distance education, and to the professional development of the instructor. The ARCS Motivational Model can be useful in providing the interaction that is lacking in the online environment in the distance education process and in making e-learning qualified.
