- Abstract
The purpose of this study is showing the socio-economic structure of sheep rearing enterprises and determining and problems, some of the technical and financial parameters in Ardahan Province. The data used were collected from 66 sheep rearing farms heavily in the villages using stratified random sampling method and these farms were classified into three size groups as 1-50, 51-100 and 101-+ heads. The mean herd size was 74.2±7.3. A production period of small, medium and large scale enterprises, showed that the cost of Sheep Breeding, respectively, 6.365, 10.413, 14.278 TL. It was found that the average of 34.8% of the companies hire shepherd and pay average 2.480 TL seasonal. 45.5% of the manufacturers sell the obtained milk to the diary farm was determined. In this study shows that, manufacturers are suffering from low demand when selling both milk and sheep/lamb. As a result, despite the support and encouragement, the companies are not able to increase of capital and rationalization because many of them are small-scale familyrun enterprises and manufacturer's do not have any market and price guarantee against market conditions.
