- Abstract
This study aimed to promote a reflective approach to the issue of children with special needs and their challenges of inclusion in mainstream school, in order to contribute to a better understanding of the issue and the child's difficulties in obtaining quality and equity education. In the contemporary world, the number of children with special needs in search of an opportunity with regular schools is increasingly increasing, which motivates us to develop a dialogue about the challenges surrounding the inclusion process. For this, an investigation was developed based on theoretical foundation, through exploratory research, in secondary sources: books, articles, documents, newspapers, magazines and specific websites, according to Gil (2008). It is concluded that regular education is the most suitable for the development of the child and is no different with the case of children with special needs. Living with other children and the school environment on a daily basis is very necessary and still a precarious myth, both in the structural aspect of schools and in the education and training of the teaching staff. So, lack of structure and awareness.
