- Abstract
Pakistan is a culturally diverse country where people follow traditions, religion and economy as compare to other countries of the world. The studies conducted in other countries on employee empowerment, perceived leadership and job satisfaction cannot be fully applied to Pakistani culture. The organizational culture several times doesn't allow employees to take decisions, and that is why they are bound to abide their bosses. One of the reasons affecting job satisfaction is leadership style that engages the employees. Although perceived leadership has been studied well in past, but there are fewer studies focused on the mediating effect of employee empowerment. The key objective of this research is to study the relationship of perceived leadership, empowerment on job satisfaction of the employees, as well as to study the mediating role of employee empowerment on the relationship of perceived leadership and job satisfaction of the employee. A sample of 200 professionals from different banks was selected. Smart PLS 3.0 software was used to analyze model fit using PLS-SEM. The results of this study show that the independent variable (perceived Leadership) has a significant and positive influence on job satisfaction. All the hypotheses were failed to reject. The study proves that a partial mediating effect of employee empowerment has been found between perceived leadership and job satisfaction. This study can help managers in designing the right strategy for retaining their employees by empowering them. The results can help organizations to identify the potential reasons for job satisfaction which leads to high productivity and profitability.
