- Abstract
The article focuses on a study which evaluates the efficacy of extended prophylaxis using aspirin compared with prophylaxis using dalteparin for preventing symptomatic venous thromboembolism (VTE) after total hip arthorplasty (THA). Study participants were given dalteparin subcutaneously for 10 days after surgery and then oral aspirin daily, placebo injection, heparin injection and placebo tablet. Results showed that the efficacy of aspirin and dalteparin were the same.
