- Title
Altering the course of type 1 diabetes: an update on prevention and new-onset clinical trials.
- Authors
Thomas, Hilary R.; Gitelman, Stephen E.
- Abstract
The article discusses the clinical trials which examine the role of immuno-modulatory and anti-inflammatory agents in preventing the first two stages of type 1 diabetes (T1D). It concludes that combination therapy through complementary and synergistic agents might forbid the autoimmune process and progression of the disease. It suggests that new dosing strategies are needed to evaluate the emerging therapies for B-cell preservation and T1D prevention.
