- Abstract
Nanofibrous composite of poly(L-lactide-co-caprolactone)/polyvinyl-alcohol (PLLACL-PVA) was prepared through electrospinning using two separately spinnerets. Two model drugs, caffeine and bovine serum albumin (BSA) were encapsulated into the PLLACL nanofibers and PVA nanofibers, respectively. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) images showed that PLLACLPVA composite consisted of nanofibers with their diameter varied from 300 nm to about 1 μm. The physicochemical properties of the composite nanofibers were characterized using Fouriertransform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction analysis and water contact angle measurement. Almost 100% of caffeine was released from the nanofibrous composite within 1min, whereas the BSA released for several days.
