- Abstract
This article presents a discussion of an article titled "Yankees at Home: Bet on the Visitors" by J. Benjafield, W.W. Liddell, and I. Benjafield from "Social Behavior and Personality: An International Journal." The authors tested looked at World Series baseball games and NBA playoff games between 1967 and 1982 and NHL Stanley Cup games after 1968. The authors found that in games involving the recurrent champion New York Yankees, Boston Celtics, and Montreal Canadiens, the home field proved to be a statistical disadvantage in crucial games.
